Another thing with Lydia being the one to open the rift. Maybe the fact that all three of them remembered? The connection all three of them had with Stiles would be stronger than one. Just a thought...

2021-09-25 04:15:30 +0000 UTCI ship Stydia, but I do not believe for one second that her connection with Stiles was stronger than Scott's. So I like to believe that her being a Banshee helped the process along in some way, because as much as I love Stydia, they're no match for Sciles... But like, the Theo and Liam stuff... I SHIP THEM! I'M SORRY! Haha (I'm not really sorry...)
