This episode is just heartbreaking! So many emotional moments! First of all, that first scene. Hayley letting Klaus feel the baby kick, that was such an intimate moment between parents and their child and I love it. I love that even though there is nothing romantic about their relationship, that doesn't take away from the intimacy they can share in a way, BECAUSE of the baby. Klaus' reaction to Hayley's throat getting slit. He was horrified. Compare that to the start of the show when he basically saw her as a means to an end in giving him his child, and now he's so protective of her and truly cares for her. (And the way he was yelling threats at the witches from where he was pinned to the wall with their magic... That is so Klaus... Haha) And that small moment where Hayley is holding the baby and looks up at Klaus. How even though in that moment there is basically no hope, they're able to share that moment, they decide to make the most of it and share this moment of their daughter's birth. And the look on Klaus' face as he sees his daughter for the first time. Elijah's speech to Klaus always gets me too. Because like, part of me is like "Klaus didn't kill Hayley, he tried to save her." But the other part of me gets that it was about so much more than that. It's centuries of pent up rage that he feels towards him for everything he's ever put them all through. And it's all just coming out in that moment because he's allowed himself to be vulnerable around someone for the first time in a long time, and he thought he lost her. Plus, he was right about a lot of things unfortunately. And it's really sad, because to Klaus, it never mattered who he pissed off or who became his enemy because everyone who mattered to him was immortal. (Marcel was the most vulnerable person he allowed into his life for a long time, now baby Hope...) That scene between Klaus and Marcel. I love it. So much! I love how Klaus isn't angry at Marcel for taking the baby. He doesn't immediately assume the worst, or go in there demanding he give her back. He runs after him, but walks in calmly, immediately acknowledges the reason Marcel took the baby, and offers him his blood to heal his bite. And Marcel apologised. I love that he apologised and acknowledged how he hurt him by bringing Mikael to town a century ago. He knows that what he did was wrong and he feels bad about it. And Klaus forgives him. He still gives him his blood, and promises they'll get vengeance. And then he asks permission to hold his own daughter. I honestly think that's one of my favourite things about the scene. He doesn't demand he give him the baby, he doesn't just take her from him, he asks if he can hold her. There's just something about that which really gets me. Then as he holds his daughter, Marcel stands up and there's just this moment where the baby looks over at Marcel and they all smile. Marcel is crying, Klaus is basically crying. It's a moment between a Father and his two kids and I love it! <333 Hayley having to drink the baby's blood is heartbreaking. I can't even imagine. I'm just glad that a drop was enough and she didn't have to drink loads of it... The fact that Klaus trusts Rebekah with his child. That is huge. After everything that happened, she is the person he trusts most. He wouldn't trust just anyone with his daughter. It really shows that he IS growing. Yes, it's taking a while, and he's still him, and he'll likely have some setbacks. But Klaus in the past never would've forgiven Rebekah and Marcel for bringing Mikael to Town. Yes, he may have let them live because no matter what he still loves them. But forgiveness? Idk... It's just so beautiful. And the fact that he gave her the toy he gave Rebekah when they were kids. The look on her face when he did that, when she realised he kept it all this time (seriously. He is the sentimental fool! Haha) so sweet! And her name is Hope! They really have been working up to that all season. With Elijah constantly saying she represents hope for their family, with everyone kinda picking that habit up a bit. I love it! <333 And Esther is back! As is one of her sons... Finn or Kol? OR HENRIK! (Seriously, they just kinda forgot poor Henrik. You'd think that after all these resurrections in the family, they'd bring back the one who's death started all of this... I guess he wasn't on the Other Side though? But wouldn't he have technically been born a Witch? Whether he ever tapped into that power or not... Idk, I just find it kinda weird and funny... I think it would've been really interesting to see Henrik in this world, seeing his siblings so different to when he knew them...)
