The problem with Brenna's safety is that she doesn't care enough about it, it's not like she wants to die or to get hurt but her own shortcomings when it comes to human/social interactions make her unaware of the details in the world around her and even careless... And yes, Booth is very protective over her for this and other reasons; one major reason being the fact that Brennan was already in danger from a different gang not long ago and Booth had to try and put a stop to it, something that she doesn't know so she is in much more danger than even she imagines and Booth knows it There is also what we know about Booth's personality and his life as a soldier which we get a little info in this episode about the the lengths he is willing to go to protect people, specially those close to him... It always gets me when Brennan founds out about his injuries, specially the ones he got trying to shield someone... He has the scars to prove how overprotective he is; and also there is a little bit of jealousy that he and her have that is under the surface along with the feelings that come with their growing relationship.
