I see your point. I don't really see it as a musical episode but just a part of Walter since hes the one telling the story. Characters randomly breaking into song as he would in any other situation. But yeah, I understand the frustration.

I'm a bit confused why they bothered to add the musical aspect if they were barely going to use it at all. There's so little of it that it doesn't feel like a musical at all, which makes it a bit off-putting when it pops up totally randomly. It's just so completely out of place in this episode. I feel like the storytelling bit was enough of a gimmick, having it also be a musical on top of it adds absolutely nothing and is just distracting and immersion breaking. Either commit to it or leave it out. I mean, there's not even a single proper song in this and even the bits that are there are barely more than normal dialogue, clearly written as normal dialogue, spoken in a vaguely sing-songy voice. What's the point? But I guess every showrunner post Buffy wants to be one of the cool kids who made a musical episode. Works great as a whole, but utterly fails as a musical episode, worse than any I've ever seen before (and I've seen some deeply mediocre musical episodes). Rant over. (I honestly don't even know why this bothers me this much, I thought the episode was great overall. Maybe because I would have loved to see a musical episode of Fringe and... this just isn't it)
