For me it comes down to this. I want to be entertained. I'm willing to exchange my time and money for a good, entertaining story. But if you promise me a good, entertaining story and instead give me a lecture, that makes me feel cheated. If they had done a better job at telling a good story then the politics wouldn't have mattered -- they wouldn't have taken me out of the story the way they did.

I suppose it all comes down to the way handled and aside from that cop scene I think it's been handled well. I get why people don't like these movies/shows to get political but really if you're telling the story of the struggles of a black character and his hesitation towards becoming a symbol of a country who has a history of treating his people like crap then of course you're going to talk about racial issues because it's a real issue. Regardless of why Steve gave Sam the shield, Sam's concerns of whether he should take up this mantle or not are valid. Like I said, I didn't think they were going to go there at first but really thinking about it it would be unrealistic not to.

2021-12-05 20:38:08 +0000 UTCI'm pretty conflicted over the race issue. Whenever Marvel addresses a group that I am in, I think it's well done. Whenever they give a nod to a group that I am not in, I feel like WillAlwaysLoveClark. Without the caps though, lol.
