I see your point about Chloe. I felt it wasn't the right decision but it was def. influenced by the pain her mother was evoking about losing her partner/husband. So I can understand it but I'm not happy about it. Your remark about the cases: They have to be easy to solve to leave time for the character development and the emotional implications. And, the audience must spot those parallels - alongside Lucifer- , too, so they have to be less complicated. Finally, God's plan: I don't think that God had planned this exactly like that. He was angry first with L. and then with the Goddess and he impulsively threw them out of heaven. In s2 the Goddess was smug about having thwarted God's plans and her banishment to hell. Mb. God regretted his actions and tried to undo this separation. I read it like this: God "learned" that he was losing his powers and used his retirement as an out-option. So he engaged L. to find her and facilitate the retreat to the other universe knowing that his son would do anything to help because of his feelings for Chloe (that L. would understand that being separated from the woman he loves is hell).

That is one reason this show is so successful in my opinion, it reflects what reality really is on this matter. (the adage "as above so below" or in other words celestials and humans are basically the same, except one is further along in their spiritual evolution) Don't worry about the waterworks - EVERYONE cries at points in the show. I teared up when God counseled Ella as well as the final goodbye's.... Yes, I believe God planned this from wayyyy back - the exact words God Johnson said to Lucifer were uttered by the real God here! (God Johnson had no memory of the things he said or did - so the real one was likely speaking through him - and remember in that episode when he danced with the Goddess - and she said something like "this wasn't in the plan" referring to her revenge plan wilting away - and he said " then let's make a new plan!") So I think the two of them planned this whole thing and set it in motion with a little nudge here and there.... (when did they have time to discuss both going to her universe in that final scene? - they already had this plan in the works methinks!) have tissues on hand for the next two.... This was going to be the final season, so things are likely to be close to being wrapped up - so tears will flow - joy or sadness, or both - worth it though.
