I love reading this comment. Thank for sharing your feelings regarding Autism portrayal. The kid did an amazing job in this one and I do like what they did with the non verbal conversation and his use of music as well. I did like the teacher too since she only cared for Sammy's well being. Now that you mention it, I forgot to talk about the aunt. How sad it is that she never got to talk to her brother and get to spend time with Sammy. This is why pride is so awful because neither one of them wanted to approach the other and now they will never be able to talk again.

The scenes with Reid and Sammy get me too. And to think back in the very first episode Hotch said "We call it the Reid Effect. It happens with children too." And now he's great with them! Haha I just love that moment where Sammy takes Reid's hand and brings it to the piano. We already knew that he couldn't even hug his mother, so for him to touch a stranger in any way is amazing. And yeah, when he kinda hugged his mum at the end, it was amazing. It would've meant SO MUCH to her! (Also, not Reid acting like he's not Autistic! Haha "Their minds tend to work differently to ours." Dude, what?! Haha) So, for the most part I'm kinda fed up with this portrayal of Autism. Not because it's not realistic, because I know a lot of people who are Autistic ARE like this, but the fact that basically every character in TV with Autism is portrayed in that way has bothered me for a long time. But in this episode, I love it and it works so well and the Actor did amazing! I think it also helps that he was nonverbal too tbh. A lot of shows and other medias that want to include people on the spectrum will shy away from making the character nonverbal because of the fact that it makes it harder for them to communicate with their other characters and they don't want to have to figure out a way to do that. Honestly, I'm just venting because I've watched a lot of things with Autistic characters in and basically all of them are portrayed in the exact same way and it's started to really get to me. It just feels like people think all Autistic people are the same. (If you can't tell by this rant, I am Autistic... Haha) But I really do think this episode did a great job with it! So, I actually really liked the teacher. I know she could easily come off kinda pushy and like she's getting in the way and inserting herself where she doesn't belong. But like, out of everyone about, she was definitely the person who knew Sammy the best (with his parents being gone...) and she did kinda have a point about taking Sammy back to the place his Dad was shot and both parents were taken from. It could've gone really bad and retraumatised him. I'm glad it didn't though. I feel awful for the Aunt too. For her to figure out Sammy might be Autistic and bring it up to her brother so he can look into it and make accommodations for him only to be shot down and told to get out, then not speak to him for years, then Sammy actually does get diagnosed with Autism and her brother doesn't call to apologise and let her back into their lives, and then for him to be murdered before they can ever make up. It's horrible. I'm glad she'll at least be able to form some sort of relationship with Sammy now though... I really enjoy the relationship between Rossi and Seaver tbh. She lost her Dad at a young age because he was a serial killer, and so he kinda fills that role a little and it's sweet. I just love how much he cares about her, and the rest of the Team. I just love the relationships between all the Team members! And Emily is really going through it rn... Doyle is terrifying, and I really wish she could just tell the Team. They love her and would do anything to help, but that's unfortunately the problem. I honestly think that even if she COULD involve them, she'd be hesitant to because she doesn't wanna put them in danger. Like, Doyle just knowing all the members of her Team and what they're doing at that time. (Not only that though, he mentioned that Reid has quirks, which implies that he's also watched them enough to get an idea on their personalities...) That would be horrifying. I look forward to you learning more about what happened with them. :) Honestly the Unsub this episode was just an idiot. Like, he was weirdly well meaning and all, but he was just a complete idiot who was very desperate and chose the absolute worst way to go about fixing his problems. And ended up killing a man, traumatising the mans wife, and their child too. And one of the worst parts, it honestly seemed like he CARED about them. They were kinda friends, he knew them, he knew Sammy. Like, they were friends to the point where the woman said that he could've asked them for help when he lost his kids and they would've helped, and he believed her. (But didn't wanna do that to them because of Sammy? Like you, I was very confused by this because instead of that he chose murder and traumatising them? And taking their money anyway? Like, WHAT?!) He was just a desperate idiot... There were so many other ways he could've gone about that... Ways in which no one would have to die or be traumatised...
