Fringe S5E5

AN ORIGIN STORY

Comments

Oh boy the title of the episode really wasn't lying this an origin story, Peter's, i've always loved how this show handled grief and loss and this episode is no exception, they way we get to stay with the characters and see how each of them reacts to that tragic event and how they move forward, Peter goes straight to anger and Olivia tries to ignore it and focus on work, those two reactions fit those character so well and they were portrayed wonderfully by the actors. Loved all your thoughts regarding the pain of grief and i totally agree, that line from Walter really sums it up, the pain is the legacy of those we lost and it's proof that they existed and impacted our life, like you said it's a weird feeling but it's true that at a certain point in the process of grieving that pain stops being a bad/awful thing and becomes something you want to feel because it brings you closer to the person you lost and to others that are experiencing the same pain as you. Peter's journey through grief during this season is going to be a hard one but also a very compelling one. That reveal of the poster was amazing, i love that Etta has become the face of the resistance for both the fringe team and the world in general. That last scene with Peter is for sure one of the more crude and dark of the show, you can feel all his anger while he is cutting through the observer and the ost is amazing. As always an amazing performance from all the actors, Etta's death marked a huge shift in the show both for the characters and for the season as a whole, from this point forward starts imo the best batch of episode the series has ever delivered, it's going to get even darker but so worth the watch, can't wait!!
