I've been thinking a lot about Gina and what makes her so aggrevating and here's what I've come up with: The problem isn't the type of character she is fundamentally at all, someone like Gina who is just full of themselves beyond all rationality could actually be a great part of the show and the source of plenty of hijinks. The problem is that it's not just her that believes her own hype which would be fun, the show itself believes her hype. Every other character sometimes fails, learns lessons and grows. Their personalities aren't set in stone, they interact with each other and the environment and they change at least a little bit as a result. And that's the interesting part, that's why we want to watch characters interact. Gina on the other hand is consistently validated by the show itself in a way that's borderline fourth-wall-breaking. I think that's also why she gets more and more annoying over time. At the start, she's just a fun character with a crazy personality like everyone else and you think "oh, fun, can't wait to see where this goes". And then I think what happened is that people liked her TOO much and the showrunners thought "hell yeah, let's lean into that" and they forgot to make her a real person. Gina thinks she is some mythical being and there's SO much you could do with a character like that. But then the show stopped portraying her as someone who BELIEVES she's a mythical being and turned her into someone who's actually meant to BE that mythical being and they expect the audience to go along with that and it just gets more and more and never stops. And at some point you realize "oh... this isn't going ANYWHERE". Fixing Gina is the easiest thing in the world. Have her fail and grow sometimes. That's it. She doesn't even have to stop being uber confident, just have her evolve a little. It's frustrating because she's pretty much not a character at all and it's the most basic of stuff: Characters need to learn and develop. It's not rocket science. Sorry about this rambling, incoherent mess, I'm sure someone else could explain it much better, but that's how I see it. Also, this episode we learn that Teddy is not just boring, he's a full-on douchebag.
