I don’t know if this had been mentioned to you by anyone else so if it has I’m sorry for repeating this, but the previous episode didn’t feel like a season finale because it wasn’t meant to be. There was a writers strike that occurred and NBC decided not to bring the show back for the second half of the season after the strike was settled. They just waited to bring the show back for a second season in the fall of that year. NBC did this with few shows and it kind of hurt those shows, an example would be the second season of Heroes was cut short and they went with an alternate ending to the season then what was originally planned. Other networks did come back and some of those shows like Fringe’s first season are short the usual 22 episodes.
