But as I usually do with bestiary entries, this one's available for ALL to see! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deviantart is being weird about a few things right now, so it won't let me load my journal, there were a few general suggestions for fae however and so this was derived from that! So if you requested a fae creature entry, this is for you! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a Titania, also known as a morningstar fairy, a dawnbringer fairy, or in their own tongue as Tìtànìà (Teh-E-Teh-Onn-I-yuh)! They were first mentioned in the description for Sprites. Fairies are some of the most common types of fae, appearing as either tiny childlike creatures the size of mice, up to being the size of an average cat, and even standing 6-8 feet tall or even larger on some occasions. The most well known however are the diminutive fairies known as Sprites, and they exist as the small form of the larger fairies known as Titania. Titania are the most powerful form of fairies, and often take on the role of royalty or protector of the smaller fae folk. Classically, titania was the name of the fairy queen of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, who's name most likely derived from such creatures. As such they are a type of creature that demands to be respected. All fae demand respect to a certain degree, however the more powerful the fae, the less time they have with disrespectful creatures. This disrespect of course may not be intended. Fae have a moral code and traditions that have existed for millions if not billions of years before we existed, and the subtleties may be lost to third dimensional beings such as ourselves, however the fae will often times take offense in our ignorance, or even worse, revel in us not knowing the rules and capabilities they possess and ready themselves to punish anyone who should, even if accidentally, step out of line. Titania are large, tall, and thin otherworldly humanoids. They tend to possess a head adorned with long, strange wing like antennae that are constantly fluttering and in motion, with pitch black eyes and yellow teeth. Like their smaller counterparts, the Titania can open their mouths very wide and dislocate their jaws like snakes can, and the strange chelicerae like appendages adorned with fangs aid in biting into creatures to tear chunks of flesh from them or swallow them whole. Some titania only have two, while others have four, six, or even eight of them around their head and neck. Some seem to possess a form of venom inflicted through their bites, though it's unsure if the venom comes from their strange, rainbow mouth, but the venom causes a creature's spirit to float away from their body. Stories of men being visited by titania and taken to the fairy world through a soft kiss on their neck have been recorded through history. Some have seen the Titania spinning a strange rainbow silk from her mouth and utilizing these to aid in drawing it forward and seemingly knitting it into yarn. This magic energy can be transformed into a sort of magic fabric that can be used to create various weapons and protections, and many powerful fae creatures have their outfits crafted by titania. This magic can also be woven between one's fingers to perform cradle magic, a rare and strange occult art that combines angles along with a cats cradle style of motion to create various arcane effects and creations. Their hair is, like their wings, a constantly scintillating pattern of chaotic colors, and their necks tend to be long and often textured as if by some form of ruffled mushroom, fungus, or protective gill flaps, but this is not always the case. They tend to all have a set of tiny sensory organs set in a triangle of three eye like structures sitting in their forehead. These sensory organs and their antennae allow for sprites to see into the various overlapping planes of existence and to see creatures and spirits wandering these planes. From their head are often draped large, hanging wing like head ornaments that appear similar to a veil, and they may have a moss or hair like growth around their neck and shoulders that sits as a collar or boa, which can come in various colors, if it exists at all. Titania possess massive, thick wings akin to that of a moth as opposed to the more rigid and wasp like wings of the smaller fairies, and a similar pair hangs from it's forearms almost as a sleeve of some sort. They flap these wings slowly, despite their ability to stay aloft, their wing flapping does not truly match their movement. This may be because they, like sprites, also possess many ethereal pairs of wings that move spectrally along with the light that seems to emanate from their wings. They can freely flutter and flit through the dimensions. Though their wings are not windows to other worlds like their smaller counterparts, they seem to contain that same fractal energy within them, and with a flap of their wings they can forcefully transport creatures around them to other realities. This can be done through wrapping their wings around a creature and embracing them to whisk them away to another place, or by flapping all of their wings at a creature to violently fling it through reality. They can even flap each of their wings to a different overlapping dimension and scatter a creature's body to the realities, often times killing it. With this they can also flap their wings over weapons, attacks, and spells to send them elsewhere at a moment's notice. They have large hands with long talons that can tear through flesh and rend stone, and though it causes them harm, some are even able to tear through iron. The claws on their dainty feet are also able to do such things and their long spindly legs allow for devastating kicks. The Titania have a mastery over various light magic, and can summon searing beams of light, call down columns of sunlight from the heavens, and illuminate the night sky as if it were dayl They can create super heated plasma blasts and even transmute some materials into plasma or light or flash fry enemies with a single glance, boiling their blood to plasma and melting their skin to a liquid. They can perform all sorts of other spells just as any wizard or sorcerer could, and they can also tear open holes in reality with their talons to allow elements from the various elemental planes to explode into the world violently, or even speak various things into existence with her fae speak and shapeshift to pretend to be people or other creatures. The fairy dust left behind by their wings is a glittery substance which can be used in various ways. Creating and casting spells, potions, and magic items occasionally utilizes fairy dust to empower them or to create desired effects, and it is also able to grant creatures the power of flight for a short time when sprinkled on them. It can be ingested or snorted to allow one visions into other dimensions or glimpses into the future, however prolonged use can twist and contort your form, turning you into a tree, an animal like creature, or transforming you into something hideous and disgusting, a feral creature who’s mind is lost and who’s flesh pales and runs glittered with the blood of the fae. These creatures are known as Spriggan, and can be created in other ways by fae, but are often humanoid creatures twisted and contorted into these hideous forms and are sometimes controlled by fae as servants. In some situations it can be used however to allow a creature to transform fully into a fae. Their wings may be taken if a Titania is killed, and they are often used to create scintillating cloaks of majestic light and teleportation as well as various items of protection, or even scabbards that fit blades much larger than they appear, or scabbards that can contain blades of pure light. Fae are often revered as much as they are feared, and the Titania are among the most feared of the fairy species. Their imposing size and alien grace makes some people seek their beauty, while others may revere them at a distance. Titania are likely to lead in child stealing and the rearing of children and human children, as well as likely relations with the fae of the wild hunt. Only the females are called Titania, where male fairies that are very large are known as Oberon... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Decided to color this one purely because the small fairies were colored so I thought these ones should be as well. Titania are big, tall fairies who could 100% melt you with a thought. Incredibly powerful and very scary. But still kinda hot....
