Also, the title of this episode HaLOVEen... Like, the V is obviously 5 in Roman Numerals, but it also makes the word LOVE in it... And there was the proposal. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT TO ME!!

The first one Jake kinda HAD to win, the whole episode was showing how much he was struggling and Holt kept catching him and all that, so it HAD to reveal at the end that everything was just going to plan. Then the second one Holt had to win, it was his "revenge" for the year before, again we saw Jake fumbling everything, but this time it was all Holt's plan. The third one was all about Amy being defined as Jake's girlfriend and Holt's Teacher's pet and wanting to prove she was more than that and it was kinda clear from the moment they both declined having her on their team that she was gonna go off on her own. Then the fourth one as soon as Gina left it became kinda clear she was gonna win (it was either her or Terry...) But this one, we just have no idea. We think MAYBE The Tramps will win. Everyone kinda has that moment where they're ahead of everyone, but it then gets to the point where it seems like it's just a race to get to it. Then we see Jake not chasing everyone else and going to the Evidence Room instead, so for a second we think he's won, then Amy's there and figures out where it is and so we think she's beat him. Then the Proposal just comes out of nowhere. It is the LAST thing we expect. And I LOVE that it was a surprise proposal. So many shows will have full episodes dedicated to someone planning the perfect proposal and everything going wrong and we KNOW that's what's happening. Like, they'll have someone else in on the plan, they'll talk about it. Or we'll see the ring or SOMETHING. But here we think it's just a normal Halloween episode, then BOOM! Proposal. It's gotta be my favourite proposal scene from a show. And a big part of that is the surprise. Honestly, I was kinda worried you'd somehow figure it out just cuz you're really good at kinda figuring things out and all that, so I was really glad that it took you by surprise because it really is great as a surprise. Something else I love about it though is that rewatching it makes so much sense. Like, you can go back and rewatch it knowing what's coming and just notice things that hint at the proposal. Plus, there are no moments where when the plan is being explained they do flashbacks to moments and we see something new, then go back to the original scene and it's just not there. (Gina wearing Amy's clothes to become invisible last season comes to mind, but they did do it in other ones too, that's just the most obvious...) It all just fits together perfectly because they didn't have to actually change things about previous scenes to fit. (I do LOVE the moments where the winner explains everything in other episodes though. They are fun!) It all just fits so well. But like, we have Jake say that planning for this Heist is what kept him sane in Prison, which means planning his proposal to Amy is what kept him sane. (It makes me wonder if he came up with the idea to use the Heist to do it while in Prison or before...) Then his desperation to win throughout the episode, his panic when Charles betrayed him. And just how excited he was for it. And YES! The fact that for the proposal to work, Amy had to figure everything out (except the proposal, of course...) and find her way to that exact place and that exact box at the right time. And everyone else had to be gone too, of course. It says a lot about their relationship and how much Jake believes him Amy. And I just love that throughout the episode Amy keeps saying that Jake's lost the ability to surprise her and then he surprises us ALL with that proposal, including Amy. It's perfect. And I love that Jake didn't tell anyone else about it. When Charles betrayed him, all he'd have to do to get out of those handcuffs is tell him he was going to propose to Amy and Charles would've not only uncuffed him but also done everything he could to help him win. But he's also terrible at hiding secrets (though he managed to hide that he was gonna betray Jake...) and his excitement would show and there's a chance that Amy would know before Jake got the chance to actually propose. Plus, it wouldn't be just between them anymore. And it means more that he REALLY worked to make it perfect. Like, he had to work so hard to get them to that point, keep it a secret from everyone, and overcome the sudden bumps. Like, Holt and Amy both knew about The Tramps for ages before the Heist began, Jake was completely blindsided by it and yet managed to work around all that. (Though he did have to invest a lot of money in a Pyramid Scheme, which he did right before getting engaged... Poor Amy... Haha) So he had to work around a lot just to get to that moment, and there's something very special about the fact that he did it basically alone. (Giving Fake Charles appreciation! Haha) And to have two Title Of Your Sex Tape jokes in the proposal was so great! Considering the first one was made in the first Halloween episode and Amy kinda found them ridiculous and then here in the 5th Halloween episode, during their proposal, they both make one! So technically Jake won this one as he was the only one who knew where the real cummerbund was at midnight. But I'd say Charles was the real winner of this Heist... Jake and Amy finally got engaged! His dream since the moment they met! So I'm always a mix between excited for reactions to this episode, and also terrified. Excited because I LOVE this episode and people realising what's happening is great. But also terrified because, well, I LOVE this episode and I'm always worried that people aren't gonna like the proposal twist, or will see it coming. So it's always a relief when people do not see it coming and enjoy it. Haha (But honestly that's how I feel with a lot of moments in shows. I'm always nervous that someone won't enjoy my favourite moments... Or just won't enjoy them as much as I do... There's just something so disheartening about that happening... And it has happened with a few reactors with a few different moments that I can't think of right now... Haha) I was so ready for your reaction to the start though where "Gina" shows up and it seems that she's just come back and taken complete control, and then the reveal that it wasn't her at all and was actually Fake Charles. Because most reactors are so excited that Gina's back then so disappointed that she's not, and I knew you'd feel the same way as me... Hahaha
