The meenlock wants to eat you, but more than that it wants to scare you. It wants to scare you so much that you turn into a new roach fairy and come with it on spooky adventures where you learn the meaning of friendship. They like the dark because they're faster and scarier in the dark, and they'll teach you to like the dark as well, even though you're probably not either of those things.
