As much as my Shoot shipper heart is broken, Root becoming RooTheMachine (RooTM) is so perfect. And it was planned since season 2. Root in 3x1 “I will have transcended this reality.” The second team coming in was a great payoff to last season. We knew that The Machine had Root building an app for recruitment, and that Harper was already being hit up as an asset occasionally, so it’s nice that she seems to have a team now. Shaw hurts my heart. Just like Harold can’t understand The Machines grief over Root, no one around Shaw can understand her grief either. She shot herself in the head 7053 times rather than have Root die, and now Root is dead and there’s nothing she can do about it. She also doesn’t know about RooTM yet.
