My understanding is that previously the asset/handler relationship is what was keeping them apart, because it's fundamentally not a relationship of equals - the handler has to ultimately do what's best for the country, not the asset, so can't ever get close. If they are both spies, then they are effectively peers and that issue goes away. Combine that with Sarah having previously told him he is capable of being a real spy, and to me is why Chuck thinks that by becoming a spy would allow them to be together. Something that might be worth considering from an out-of-universe perspective is that IIRC Chuck never got a full season order off the bat - it was always half seasons, with any further episodes being added whilst it was airing. Therefore, it stands to reason that the timing of the arcs within the season don't necessary fit with a traditional network show timeline.

Casey could have told her early on, and most things could have been resolved earlier in the episode. But how often do we get major payoffs in any TV shows early on in episodes? The emphatic "I love yous" from Chuck were fantastic. It's been bottled up for so long to the point where it feels cathartic from the viewer's standpoint as well when he finally comes out and says it. And even though you were frustrated by it, I love how Jeff and Lester come in to save the day by helping Chuck find Shaw. The Picasso of creepiness delivers. As far as miscommunications go (and you mentioned Chuck witnessing Sarah shoot the Fulcrum agent in cold blood last season), they rarely ever drag those out. That was resolved the very next episode, just like it was with Casey killing the mole last episode. I think it just feels longer for you because you have a 2 week break between episodes. Which is why your frustration grows for longer than it did for us :) Then, the twist with Sarah killing Shaw's wife is glorious. Shaw saying: "If you're asking if i'd trade my life for the man who killed my wife? I would". That quote is chilling now that we know Sarah killed her. The morse code sequence between Sarah and Casey was also glorious. Ah, I love this show.

Chuck's speech at the restaurant was wonderful! Chuck going into save Shaw to show Sarah how much Chuck cares for her was awesome! Chuck admitting his love for Sarah was great! Sarah having killed Shaw's wife was a twist I didn't see coming either, Eliza! Wonderful reaction as always!
