He's outttttt!! That scene of JJ going to get him gets me every time! Just that pure relief on both their faces, how quickly they hug and just all of it. It's so sweet! Then he and Garcia's hug once he's out. They love him so much! And vice versa. (I do wish we'd got a reunion with Emily too, with everything she did to get him out, but I get she'd already had multiple scenes with him earlier in the episode and they didn't have the time for every reunion onscreen...) And LUKE!! God, I LOVED him threatening Shaw a few episodes ago, but him actually following through on the threat is just my absolute favourite thing!! I love him! Like, he fully just sent that man to his death, knowingly. Happily, even. And I love that. He very quickly became part of the team, fully willing to do anything for them. Like you, I love that he just gets things done. He has this ruthlessness to him that I really like. He's definitely one of my favourites. It's funny, so many people hate all the "replacement characters" for replacing their favourites. But Luke and Tara genuinely became some of my favourite characters. Tara is my favourite female character on the show. I love them all, but there's something about Tara that I just really love. (There's never been a main character on this show who I don't adore though tbh. Characters like Elle, Ashley Seaver, Jordan Todd and even Gideon, get a LOT of hate from fans, but I love, or at least like, them all...) And Spencer waiting for the door to open! ð JJ's realisation and her quickly telling him it's unlocked, but other than that not acknowledging it because she knows why it happened, and she knows he's aware of why it happened and is not ready to talk about it yet. I love their friendship so much! ð But also, him not even being able to go home because his apartment is a crime scene. That SUCKS! I'd also like to point out that the suit he's wearing is the one he was arraigned in. This poor man. S12 was really the torture Spencer Reid season. Everything with his mum earlier in the season, then Mexico happened, then he was in prison, then his mum is kidnapped and there's nothing he can do because he's in prison, and then he has to go into another prison to talk to Cat in order to save her, and she also happens to be the one who framed him. Insane. They really decided to torture him this season. They always have tortured him, but like, never for an entire season like this!! I am SO glad you didn't spot Aubrey Plaza's name in the credits! It is such a spoiler for anyone who knows she played Cat. Like, that reveal at the end was so good, and if you see her name in the credits and know who she is, it just spoils that a bit. Don't worry, everything is explained in the next episode, and if you still have questions I'll answer them if I can. ðĪĢ I love the Cat twist though. The reveal that all this time they've been looking for the wrong person. That Scratch had nothing to do with it and it was Cat Adams all along. But YES! Spencer stabbing himself like that is amazing! So smart! Like Emily said, he got himself into Solitary without hurting anyone else. Kept himself safe until they were able to get him out. Though the opening scene of him telling Emily about his mum broke me. Just the frustration at not being believed (that'll likely be a trigger for him for a while, not that they show it, but come on. Someone framed for a crime they didn't commit, they're likely going to have issues surrounding people not believing them after that...) and him hitting the table like that, and Emily flinching. Then him being dragged out. It would feel so humiliating, the people you love seeing you being treated that way. Like you're not even human. The guard calling him inmate kills me every single time. Prison is so dehumanising and it would genuinely be so humiliating. He is going to have these memories of being treated this way in front of his family for the rest of his life, they'll have those memories forever too. It genuinely breaks my heart. Ha, for fun, go watch a S1 episode and see baby Reid and think about everything that baby goes through in later seasons... You look at him and could never imagine him in a Prison! It's so fun! It's not depressing at all. It's funny, in fact. (ððð) (But also, favourite moment to look back on is an episode in s1 where he and Garcia are hacking some files, can't remember the episode, but Reid asks her if it's legal and she replies "Of course not. We'll both go to prison and you'll be someone's bitch." Great fun to rewatch! Was a fun joke between friends back then. Who knew that 12 years later he really WOULD go to prison! ð I love the next episode. The dynamic between Cat and Reid is one of my favourites of the show. Not in a good way. In an interesting, but really horrifying, way. Aubrey Plaza and MGG are pretty good friends irl, and they've done a few other things together, so that definitely helps with their chemistry. The prison arc definitely dragged, but it was worth it to get to this imo. Though I still think it would've been better to maybe have an episode or two where Reid just didn't appear and the characters just mentioned having gone to see him in Prison and that he wasn't doing well, but was physically okay. (Maybe even an episode where we don't see him at all through the episode, but then it ends with Emily getting a phone call that he's been beat up or is hurt in some way. Add a little suspense...) Sorry for how long this got... ðĪĢ
