Watch Us Watch | The Librarians | Season 3 - Episode 10

It's just a page I'm turning to...

After watching The Librarian trilogy, we found out there are like 40 episodes of a spinoff series begging for us to watch them. But instead of watching all 40, we're watching 8! That's right, Micah & I watched the first and last episode of all 4 seasons and did our best to keep track of the plot - with barely any help from previously on's!

The Librarians is somehow cheesier than the movies in the best way, including abysmal fight choreography and questionable acting. Using the powers of knowledge, thievery, and autism, our heroes must save the world from literature-based threats while also trying to keep Noah Wyle from stealing their own show from them. Good luck, Lindy!

This is the first time that I watched the full season in between your commentaries and knowing that I don't have to worry about spoiling you, here's my personal season 3 wrap up: I agree with you guys that season started off strong with its first episode, but it went downhill pretty quickly. Unfortunately this season is probably Eric's worst case scenario of a season. It is the least freak-of-the-week and most Flynn Carsen heavy season so far. Apep or DOSA are involved in most episodes this season and sometimes to dumb degrees. And he's the worst villain to do it with because there's no motivation or character development. He's just the embodiment of chaos so he's barely a character. I find Flynn Carsen more charming than Eric does, but his frequent presence take screen time away from our other characters, so they fall flat a lot too. There's not any room for natural character development and poor Ezekiel has basically nothing to do all season. This season they also start introducing that new artifacts can be produced and that some of the incidents are just magic spells, so they start leaning away from the cultural references. I think this is a huge mistake as that's a part of the fun. It also provides a foundation for the audience to ground themselves with. My suspicion is that they did this to further distance themselves from Warehouse 13 which is another show from the SyFy network that ended the same year the Librarians premiered. The Librarians and Warehouse 13 have basically the exact same premise except The Librarians is more mythology/folklore based and Warehouse 13 is more history based.

I'm such a sap but I remember they really built it up to make you believe Flynn was gonna die this season and I bought it thinking Noah Wyle maybe finally wanted to bow out for the new kids to take center stage, so when they were able to save him this episode I bawled my eyes out.
