I can promise you that this comic is a love story with a happy ending.
But it is also an adult story, with trauma and backgrounds relating to discrimination. This is a story about characters who bond over their mutual friendship and love for one another, and also through supporting each other in dark times.
None of the struggles I write are meant to be gratuitous or for shock factor. Everything has a purpose in the design of this story. Especially the back stories, which are lovingly, thoughtfully researched and rooted in aspects of real-life North American queer history and society.

The art style shift for these flashbacks is masterful and the shift here using colors is another testament to your craft. This is such a powerfully traumatic page. The look of utter devastation on Blake's face like owch. This hurts to look at as much as it is stunning in it's composition. I think this kind of stuff is needed in queer stories like, maybe not ever queer story but being attached to reality, to real queer trauma is also like part of being queer and I think it makes all the cute fluff so much nicer too. That fact that past all our pain, all the hate, all the suffering, somehow, someway, we keep finding ways to have joy is one of the most beautiful parts of being queer.
