Notel research: behind the scenes video

You would have seen this two weeks ago, if you are subscribed to my email newsletter. Sorry for the delayed cross-post here.

Notel is taking shape in my mind. I dug deep into the rabbit hole of research,  conceptualising and trying to generally understand the findings of this  classic experiment into television’s impact on a community.

I’ve had my nose deep in books for the last two weeks, learning all that I can from primary research (“The Impact of Television: A Natural Experiment in Three Communities”), as well as secondary research into television’s societal role.

I tend to research well beyond what is ultimately necessary for my projects, so that I can better understand the big picture.

Now that I’m largely done with the research phase, I can start to bring you on the journey of finishing this project with me!

Click here to see a 3-minute video of me describing the research process to date.

Comments

I asked colleagues for advice on the best ways to find communication interns from within the local university communities. Ended up finding some from the local ANU Science Communication school.

How did you get an intern?

Alysha Herrmann

It is something that I am also sensitive to, but this one was created out of my hands.

Stuart McMillen

Yeah, this is something that I already fed back to my intern who created this video, Stephen.

Comments on the audio: drop the level of the music audio at the beginning and also use a music source that isn't so compressed
