July 2018 postcards sent

A fortnight ago, I sent out Deprived of Religion -themed postcards to my supporters who are subscribed to my US$20+ tier. Here is a squiz at the artwork.

And, to celebrate the success of my recent matched crowdfunding campaign, I sent out postcards to 120 of my other supporters. Basically, everyone who I could track down an address for. Hopefully they all made it out safely, via the global postal network. (Give me a shout if you missed out on a postcard and would like one).

The artwork for that postcard featured an illustration from I Used to Be Racist. See below:

Short timelapse video from my art studio

Here is a 50-second timelapse clip of a recent open studio I held in Canberra.

The clip features the mighty "Hi Cs" by Screamfeeder as soundtrack! (How much I love that band, and it turns out Screamfeeder's Tim Steward is also a fan of my comics!)

Latest news with me:

I am currently writing and storyboarding a batch of comics. Getting all of the initial work completed for multiple comics, before I draw the illustrations back-to-back.

This is a really fun—but also slightly nerve-wracking—part of the artistic process for me. It is a "blue sky" stage, where I could literally decide to write and draw anything. That is both exciting and daunting. But I have done this enough times to 'trust the process' and stick at it.

(And I've been spending so much time at the National Library of Australia, that they featured me as one of their "50 People", to celebrate their 50th anniversary! Check the photo on Instagram)

My upcoming comics will be on a series of topics at to the intersection of society, economics, and environment. Venturing back towards the topics I covered in Energy Slaves and Not Talking About Capitalism, but using the artistic style of I Used to Be Racist as a north star.

I don't want to give too much away, but I am quietly pleased with the progress I have made on these new comics. None of the topics are rehashes, and some are in very fresh territory for me.

I'll share more news in the coming months.

Keep an eye on my Instagram posts, for hints at the reading / research that I've been digging into during this process.

As always, THANK YOU for continuing to support my work via Patreon. It is truly a luxury to have the time to do this current patch of "blue sky" imaginative work, knowing that your pledges are sustaining me.
