When I first heard the guy had died, on the one hand, I had the impulse to refrain from celebrating his demise, because any death is a tragedy. I'm sure his family loved him and they get to grieve.
OTOH, I basically just assumed that the GOP would throw any kind of respect or dignity to the wind and instantly go scorched earth against Obama's duty to nominate a replacement (which prediction was borne out within hours).
And on the gripping hand, it's hard not to be actively pleased that we no longer have a man on the court who is OK with the state executing innocent people. There are relatively few people in the world that I can point to and say, "Yeah, that is an _evil_ person." A man who could write, "This Court has never held that the Constitution forbids the execution of a convicted defendant who has had a full and fair trial but is later able to convince a habeas court that he is 'actually' innocent," definitely qualifies. That's FAR beyond just being misguided or ignorant.
