No Fee Change! We Win!
Added 2017-12-13 18:59:50 +0000 UTCJust read that Patreon has cancelled their planned fee changes! They seem to have seen the error of their ways. I'm still planning on making some changes but this is good news for us all.
Thanks to all my patrons who stuck around while this got worked out. And thank you to all the ones that left, your pressure made this happen.
If you know any of the patrons that de-pledged, feel free to tell them. :)

I've been distributing $2/month to a number of creators for a year or more, so ... presumably they could just let me say "Charge me once a month and trust me?" I mean, yeah, maybe I'll abuse the system on that last month or something but sometimes you just have to take a chance on people.

2017-12-13 21:45:20 +0000 UTCAs long as they are open and transparent about their plans, I'm fine with any alternative solution if they need more $ to keep the service running. It's a good service. I think the main issue here is that the $0.35 per transaction made no sense (the pledges are aggregated into a single credit card charge every month, that's the whole point of Patreon, so why does it matter how many pledges I make?), and they did a terrible job explaining themselves.
