Poll: Open Archives

Been thinking that I might be able to attract more patrons if they were able to sample the wares around here a bit more easily. I've also always been a little uneasy with the idea of eternally walled content. Now that Patreon supports the feature, I'm experimenting with making private posts public automatically after 30 days. I'd love to know what you think.

In lieu of restating this as my own opinion I'm just +1-ing this one.

I'm all for it. This is your livelihood, and you need to do what you can to attract more people. Customers. Reader. Whatever you wanna call them.

Jim Anderson

Do the thing that lets you not starve. You might get more people signing up if you show them your junk! Or maybe you'd do better if you keep it zipped. Whatever works.

Michael Gates

How does it feel the be the first and only person to vote no? Not that your opinion isn't valid, I'm just surprised that you even bothered to cast your vote.

Alex Krastel

I started supporting your Patreon so that your public page could be rewarded. It doesn't make sense to have walled content!

Crissa Kentavr

Let them pay like we do. Maybe post a tease haiku, wallpaper, and comic to entice them to pledge to you. I think you'll lose pledges if you give it free after a month. You put out enough free stuff to have walled off content so don't feel guilty! I voted NO if this post doesn't make my feelings obvious.

Richard Kempter

Early access is good enough for me, it doesn't also have to be exclusive.

Bill Thomas

I want more content. I don't want my own content. Fuck early access.

Samuel

I think I may be detecting a bit of a trend in the poll results :) As everyone else is saying, do what you think will work best for you :)

Paul Browning

Whatever you think will work best for you is fine by me. Open half the posts and reserve the other half; share everything; it’s all good.

Auros Harman

I agree with others. Jonathan, I support you because I like your work and I think you are worth supporting. It doesn't diminish my support of you to let others see the content. Moreover, if it convinces others to become patrons, then you get more support, and I want that to happen.

Jon Callas

I do the same on my patreon, though not always 30 days, sometimes it is only 7 or 10.
