Chapter 3 on Itch.io
Added 2024-09-30 03:42:46 +0000 UTCHi everyone, as I mentioned in my weekly update. Once I release chapter 4 part 1 to you wonderful Patreons, I would like to make chapter 3 available to a wider audience. I would like to release a compressed image quality version of 3.2 onto Itch as a paid release. I'm struggling though to decide on a pricing and strategy for doing that. So I've come to you all for your input on which direction I should take.
Laid out below are a few different options, I would really love your feedback on which route makes the most sense. Thanks in advance.
The advantage of option 1, is that folks are able to pay once and forget, it's simple, I wouldn't be asking them to continue to go into their pockets. Disadvantage is that it's a lot of money to ask for up front and is Chapter 2 alone enough to sell them on making that investment?
Option 2 is a low cost way for them to get their hands on chapter 3 and gives them a more palatable way of sampling the VN, they can jump off the bus whenever they want. Disadvantage is it's a little complex and may annoy folks having to constantly go back to pay for each chapter.
Option 3 basically extends the demo version of the game to Chapter 3 for a small fee. It's simple and doesn't require a big investment on a limited sample set that has been provided. The disadvantage here is that there is a long time potentially between the release of chapter 3 to them and the final release. This opinion is kind of a mix of the first two.
Option 4 needs no explanation. :)
I think I am leaning towards option 2, as although a complex way of doing it, it gives me the best chance of getting folks to buy in. They can also ramp off whenever they like, so it's flexible for them. I can also pivot it to Option 3 at any point, so it gives me flexibility too.
I do not believe any of these options adversely effect the value of your Patreon support as you are always going to be ahead of any release elsewhere and you will also receive the highest quality rendered version of the game. However if you believe I am wrong here, please let me know.

Think either option 2 or 3 would work best.
