Weekly Update - Nov 29th

Hi Everyone,

I've been a little sick this week and lost a couple of days in development time, however I've still managed to complete 2 more scenes, so still on target for the 9 scenes I had set for part 1 of chapter 5. I don't think though I will be at the point in the story I was hoping to get to. But that means that Chapter 5 is probably going to be bigger than I had planned rather than you missing out on content.

So the plan moving forward with 2 weeks or so left to the part one release, is finish at least 2 more scenes next week then do end to end testing, add audio, tidy up the code, the following week, the target date is Dec 10th.

Outside of development, I've been thinking about what to do with my Itch page. I've been going back and forth on whether to release Chapter 4 there. I think I will release it at $5 (pricing anything under that amount seems difficult as the fees incurred for each transaction are taken off your income). I want to prioritise the Great Friend Tier over Itch too. So my plan is Dec 10th, Best Friend Tier will get Chapter 5 part 1, Great Friend Tier will get the complete version of Chapter 4. Around 10 days later I will release the complete chapter 4 to Itch for $5. I don't expect it to be a big money maker over there, especially with that price increase over what I set for Chapter 3 but that's really not it's intent anyway. It's merely to give other folks who perhaps can't or don't want to support the Patreon site an opportunity to play chapter 4.

Back to chapter 5 and the game in general really. My focus has always been on trying to balance out content for both paths. A similar number of scenes are developed for both protags. This might not appear to balance out as you play through a release though. I attribute this to some of the more interesting content focused on a certain character at a certain point in the story. I think this may become more apparent as the characters continue to grow and evolve.

I will end with a couple of stats for Chapter 5 content completed so far. In the 7 scenes that are fully developed there are 233 unique renders and 2081 lines of code.
