Neither this Patreon page nor any of my work like Best Friends or Great Hire, has any intent on delving into the world of politics and religion however I feel right now that I must bring something up that breaks that rule a little, so please forgive me.
As you may or may not be aware the recent presidential election in the US has had a hugely negative impact on the lives of the transgender community within that country.
"Project 2025", is a charter for how right wing conservatives see the reshaping of the US under a Trump administration. This may or may not (depending on who you listen to) be in the process of being implemented right now.
One of the goals of the project is to ban all trans related literature. That obviously would cover Best Friends, Great Hire or any other trans focused content out there.
I am based in Canada, so whatever laws the US implement do not directly effect my work. However platforms such as Patreon, Steam and Itch are US based companies and any ban would, I assume, effect my ability to post content of a transgender nature.
I find it frankly abhorrent that censorship like this is even being threatened right now, censorship is rarely a good thing and takes us back to dark times in recent history.
I will continue to build and complete Best Friends but if these laws are brought in, it will impact how I can make the content available to you all. It will also have an impact on what direction I will have to take with future projects, so I guess the bullies will have won :(
My issues though are insignificant when compared to what trans folks are going through at the moment, not just in the US but the rest of the world to. Because stuff like what has been happening, leads to a normalisation of bigotry and hate.
If you know a trans person, look out for them, offer whatever assistance you can and please don't fall into the trap of demonising them and further marginalising an already marginalised community.
Trans Rights are Human Rights, all they want to be is allowed to live and be happy.

The right wing Republican Party is actively working to undo decades of rights for Americans, including rights that are included in our Constitution (which include amendments, such as Freedom of Speech and defining who is an American, by birth). I don't see a ban on trans-literature being more than an individual State issue. And we have 50 states. The President has issued Executive Orders (which he once declared to be treasonous) that affect national government entities, such as our Military branches, regarding LGBT+ issues. Patreon and other pay sites may ban stories about trans characters, much like they banned stories about underage minors and incest. Their ban was NOT based on any of our laws.
