Yeah, given our society and justice system, it's sometime a rational choice to not come forward. It's a tough choice.

2018-09-04 23:41:54 +0000 UTCThis was a really good episode. This summer a couple of former coworkers/friends from NYC, both female, were out in the Twin Cities and we all went out one night. One of them started talking about how she had knew a girl who had been abused sexually by a female teacher. I'd had a little to drink, I don't remember the age of the person she was describing, but she does mentor college age kids. We had a long conversation about how to handle it. The victim wasn't really ready to come forward, and my friend was wondering if she should say something. The fear was that inaction would lead to it happening again. This teacher was still teaching. I never know what to say in situations like this, so I just said "You can't make someone come forward before they're ready to do it. It's not your decision to make." I don't know if that's good advice or not. I started thinking about that while listening.

Kirk, your statement to the effect that under the influence of alcohol a loop that was unresolved had free reign to play was pure gold. I'm definitely going to steal that line in the future (first I'll relisten to get it right) Thanks again. That was a great episode.
