Do people who were able to develop a healthy sense of self ever experience skepticism around interpreting their needs/desires? I've been working on developing a sense of self as an adult and sometimes I wonder if the needs/desires I think I have are genuine or whether they are a confabulation based on needs/desires I was taught to have (e.g., by parents)
