Yesss I agree with Emily that for some reason, grad school and even continuing education often leaves the question of “how do I actually DO this” stubbornly unanswered!! It seems like in classes, professors stay too general (“always make sure to use trauma-informed approaches”), or we often learn something specific about trauma in the brain or the dangers of retraumatization, but no one wants to say “here, these are some guidelines for actually handling it” like you did in this episode! It’s like students are supposed to just “use their judgment” in applying the knowledge without ever having a concrete idea of how that might play out. Or we’re encouraged to go get further training in something specific like EMDR or TF-CBT...anyway this was a helpful episode!
