My Pet Grief

Comments

So sorry to hear about Chloe and the trauma you endured throughout her illness 😒. I worked as a medical-surgical companion many years ago shortly before becoming a RN. I used to sit with a child during my 12 hour night shift to see to their needs and to help monitor their seizure activity. Yes, it’s truly sad that vet care hasn’t caught up to the level of care some humans get to have 😞. Thank you so much for speaking on this topic. My SO and I lost two beloved senior pets last year. I’m a sensitive soul so my grief can last quite long. It’s on and off but can be intense sometimes despite the multitude of different things I’ve tried to help myself cope with such profound losses. I loved them all and I miss them immensely, even the ones from years ago. I wish society would acknowledge that grieving over the loss of pets is as real and horrible as any other loss.

Run free, Chloe. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. We teach these good dogs to stay, and they do until the one time they cannot stay. I lost my heart dog Tally to hemangiosarcoma, so in a way I can share my tears with yours. For so long it seemed unreal, and I kept waiting for the joke to be over and someone to give me my dog back. Eventually though, the shock of it faded and good memories stared to come into focus, but I still miss him every day. Thank you for trusting us as an audience to process your loss. Those seizures sound confounding and scary.
