The International Shipping Cost Is Too Damn High
Added 2022-11-30 19:54:13 +0000 UTCI've had a number of my non-USAian readers mention that they'd love to back the SFAM Book 4 Kickstarter campaign but the international shipping costs are somewhat high. I hear you, and I agree, it's crazy how much it costs to ship a book right now.
I also have to make sure my ass is covered in case costs go up between now and May or whenever we ship, because they almost always do. And figuring out shipping costs to all possible different regions is exponentially complicated.
I was able to add a "European Union" shipping option to the Paper Preferrer tier with a slightly lower shipping rate. That might be an option for some of you. (Kickstarter won't let me add options to the other tiers at this point, for reasons.)
But perhaps more importantly, I want to point your attention to our all-digital tiers, Digital Hero and eBook Avenger, which have zero shipping fees associated with them.
The eBooks are DRM-free PDFs, full color, super-high resolution. If you have an iPad-style device with a retina-style screen you are going to be astonished at the detail. These are eBooks worth owning, the definitive experience.

During the time it took to complete one project, intl shipping went from "crazy" to "holy fuck, are they fueling the container ships on extra virgin olive oil?" The producers had to ask for voluntary pledges from overseas supporters. One update showed a shipping box with one hardcover, ready to go to Australia (or NZ?), with a USPS label for $72 in postage. PDFs are a logical way to go, but I hope POD becomes a thing.
