The song that plays as Kittan flies out to meet his end always gives me goosebumps! Combining classic opera with hiphop is a bold creative choice and I love them for it. The community has a meme that Yoko is short for "You only Kiss once"... for now obvious reasons 👀 One final bit of info as you venture into the last two episodes, they actually released 2 Gurren Lagann movies which are basically a re-edited version of the entire series. The first movie covers everything before the time-skip and the second movie covers everything after the timeskip. Both are mostly just cut together versions of the show with some of the more "fillery" stuff cut out or condenced into quick montages. Both of them also add some additional scenes or re-do some fights a little different, with the first movie it's not super worth it (but it's a great way to re-experience the show but a bit shorter and quicker), but with the second movie they basically extend the ending by like 20 minutes or something, I wouldn't say it changes the narrative in anyway, but the fight just goes a bit more ham and you get a couple more speeches and tid-bits that re-enforce the themes super well. I will argue that the ending of the second movie feels like the "true ending" that they wanted to make, but again from a plot point of view, nothing changes, it's just more :P I would highly recommend you checkout the second movies ending (just skip to the last 30 or so minutes) at some point if you wanna see what they do if they have just a bit more funding and a bit more time :P. Obviously would love to see a reaction to that, but not sure how you could make that work, but want you to at least know it exists. One downside is that I don't think it was ever dubbed.
