I’m a speech-language pathologist who works with autistic children. I think it’s important to at least research compliance based therapies (e.g. ABA) versus relationship based therapies (e.g. DIR Floortime). I strive to learn from autistic people about their perspective and there is a lot of controversy around this topic. I have heard of autistic children that go through compliance based therapies and have some negative impacts from it (having to un-learn things that they have been forced to learn through compliance based therapy). Ethical treatment in all therapies (including speech, occupational, mental health) should be prioritized.
