Regarding Freud and “fantasies of abuse” (seduction theory) I think your characterisation misses a crucial reason why Freud settled on abuse being a fantasy. It was because so many of his patients reported being abused that he doubted it could be so widespread. So he was forced to admit that it was most likely a phantasy (also NB to note the difference better phantasy and fantasy, in psychodynamic theory)

The "skills" example literally happened to my friend. It was his first and final experience with therapy, because he felt - rightfully so - that having him write down ten things he likes about himself did absolutely not and in no way even adress the surface of his feelings and the source of his trauma. He honestly thought that was how therapy always was and saw no point in any of this. It often takes a couple of tries to find someone who will not try to fix you by giving you unwanted basic life advice..... 🤭
