In my own opinion, I disagree that discrimination can be against any gender, but I can understand the idea. It’s more so about power dynamics. The patriarchy makes male dominance at the top so to speak, even though the patriarchy also negatively affects men. Men being at the top, when they are sexist it is punching down. Whereas women being sexist against men is punching up. It’s not the same. It also has no implications on men’s rights to their bodies, equal wages, etc. Just thought I’d share some thoughts on it

Aaw the harry potter reference! This moment in the movie was soo meaningful to me. I felt alone cause I was the only one in my friend group that had lost close ones at a young age. Thinking about it makes me feel a lot of compassion for my younger self. 💖

when I apply to grad school in two years, Antioch is my top choice, because of you :) I just finished my associate’s in community college, and all the knowledge I gained from you helped me get really awesome grades!

I think an important conversation that will need to happen, or maybe is already happening, is what sort of upbringing (or possibly abuse) and societal messaging influences boys into having interest in things like incel forums, and how to get ahead of this while they are still young and redirect them toward healthy coping or the proper help, or ideally prevent interest from forming to begin with. These interests pose a public safety issue.

re: essay writing I find that highschool does a pretty terrible job of making students interested in writing essays. I found I became much better (after several years of uni) once I spent a year or so writing free-form essays on subjects I was interested in. After a while, I'd start throwing in references and counter-arguments, and eventually my essays were a pretty solid discussion of the topic at hand.
