同級生 Dōkyūsei: Bangin' Summer
Added 2024-09-15 08:45:22 +0000 UTCDōkyūsei: Bangin' Summer (同級生). Just finished playing this classic dating sim remake on steam. I have some mixed feelings about it.
- I can see how it was ground breaking when it came out in the early 90s, and obviously many dating sims were influenced by it.
- A lot of girls to choose from. Players are likely to find someone they like, but inevitably, each girl can only have a few short scenes.
- Not a fan of the remake art style, the characters look generic. Especially the school girls, I bet they all look the same without different hairstyles. The older ladies are a bit more distinctive though.
- The controls are a bit rough. Even moving in the main map feels like a challenge.
- Without a game guide players are very likely to miss a lot of events; something that was considered a norm for early dating sims but no longer click with modern gamers.
- I encountered a couple game breaking bugs (possibly). For example I maxed out the hearts with Mako, unlocked all her events, but still failed to get her ending. It could be some hidden stuff that I didn't unlock but the game provided no clue whatsoever.
- At the end of the day, I had some fun with it, and I made this picture to express that unique high school summer holiday vibe that I got from the game.
