I watched this episode on Youtube and scrolled through the comments while watching - and I was irritated and frustrated, even angry, because I feel like the accusations against Rebecca are so unfair. (Being biased against men and cis women, being apologetic about female abusers and so on) So I listened to the whole thing and as I thought, Rebecca never said the things that she was accused of. Now I am just disappointed that the only female host of this podcast - who just in the episode talked about how people don't listen to and fight against women, who don't comply to societal roles - gets so much... well hate. To me it shows the massive bias people have as soon as a woman has a strong opinion - no matter what she says. It makes me sad, because the episode was fair, so obviously aware of biases, and nice to the participants of love is blind. Sure, people don't have to like everyone, but the accusations are just shitty for the whole podcast crew, as you all appriacte eachother for a reason. It makes me more afraid to show myself as my true self - which is a loud woman. Also: I love Rebecca for being so open, true, reliable and direct and I am really thankful for her part in the podcast.

2024-03-31 01:27:12 +0000 UTCThat's strange Rebecca gets in trouble for being normal... I've run into that as well but I am in the midwest in a fly-over state so I expect the culture to feel that way. I agree with Rebecca; it doesn't do us any good to be overly appogetic for being normal.

For a bit of context, I found Johnny's perspectives around birth control frustrating, but as a fellow NC resident, access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare is not as readily available here after recent state legislation. His concerns are legit in some ways and I appreciated him being open about how little he knew before Amy - that oversight is also rage-inducing but oh so common!
