Gift: O Slime Sister Tree

Summary: Feza, Celes and the other slime sister go shopping for a Christmas tree. But Feza gets the idea of becoming the biggest, brightest, and best solstice tree of all!

A Christmas present I wrote for MRGIllusion45, who illustrates the Slime Sister stories.

"Thanks for coming with me to find the perfect Christmas tree!" Celes chimed in eagerly to Feza. The two slime sisters were bundled up in cozy winter outfits—all the better to protect against the frigid elements, which were none too kind to a slime woman.

Feza beamed widely and nodded, the bells in her wooly hat jingling with the motion. Since they had met, Celes had gotten quite skilled at making clothes; a clever application of their own versatile slime opened up a lot of possibilities for attire that could adapt to any situation. Feza seemed to agree, bubbling happily as her parka seemed to radiate heat on its own, like a cozy compact sauna.

"I guess it's just us for now." Celes rubbed her chin with her mittens. "There's lots of fun stuff to check out, so I imagine they're excited, but... I was really hoping for Marin's extra muscle carrying the tree back."

Feza smirked, and flexed a bicep, her forearm swelling to comical proportions. Celes gawked briefly. It could've been the light reflecting off some of the tinsel on Feza's outfit, but the green slime woman was practically glowing.

"Ohh!" Celes swooned. "You're gonna be on top of it? Okay okay, let's find a big one! Ohhh, but what kind of tree... a blue spruce? Maybe a white pine..."

Feza didn't really know what Celes was going on about, judging by the field of needly Christmas trees sprouting all around them. None of them looked blue, and they really only had white from the snow on top. Maybe she just needed to see things from a different angle.

Aha! There's an idea! Feza began to grow right before Celes, inadvertently knocking the purple slime woman to the ground with a bump as she grew and grew. Celes gawked upwards as, in a matter of moments, Feza towered over all the trees below like they were houseplants!

Celes did feel a tinge of pride looking over Feza, pleased to find that her slime-infused winter swag—made specially for Feza, along with all their slime relatives—had grown along with her. Maybe it was a touch more snug than before, but the fit was still right.

Celes' self-satisfaction, however, quickly turned to concern as Feza's boots brushed uneasily against some of the trees; if she wasn't careful, she'd crush some of these beautiful trees like blades of grass under her feet!

Celes' focus turned to herself as she grew up to Feza's stature, wobbling unsteadily as the world shrunk around her. She'd gotten somewhat used to getting around as a giantess, and growing and shrinking came as easily as breathing, but she was still a worrywart at heart.

"O-okay, okay, easy!" Celes called out to Feza, before pausing to admire the rows upon rows of mature trees. "Wooow... some view, huh?"

Feza leaned over, plucking a fifteen foot spruce from the ground, roots and all, as if it were a weed, and held it before Celes, smiling proudly.

"Mm? That one? Lemme see..." Celes leaned forward, squinting. "...Turn it around a bit, please, thank you."

Feza tilted her head, and obliged. Celes let out a quiet sound of displeasure.

"Little frumpy on the back." Celes shook her head. "It has to be perfect."

Feza had no idea what was frumpy about the tree, it looked fine to her on all sides... but Celes was in charge of their little trip, so she knew best. Feza shrugged, tossing the tree to the ground; a family yelped in surprise as the massive tree crashed only a couple feet from them.

"Sorry!" Celes kneeled down, bringing the tree upright. "Were you guys looking at this one? We were gonna just- aaaaaaaand they're gone."

Celes frowned, watching the family flee in terror. Seen that before. Maybe she had gotten used to it by now; Celes plopped the tree back into the hole in the ground, patting the snow and soil around to replant it.

"Big trees, though, huh?" Celes murmured, turning to Feza. "They got nothing on the big one in town square. It's practically the size of a building, biggest thing I've ever seen!"

Feza's tapped her chin thoughtfully. Big... green.. aha! If Celes wanted a big, green, perfect tree, then Feza had just the thing in mind!

Feza planted her feet firmly to the ground, her smile widening as her lower body fused into a mighty trunk. Her outfit began to shimmer, warp, and flair out into branches in waves, her body wobbling as she grew wider, taller, bigger. Celes tilted her head back as Feza began to grow more and more, quickly rivalling—and soon exceeding—the skyscrapers Celes was acquainted with.

"Feza??" Celes' face went pale. She sprang forward, elongating her body, her limbs twisting as they stretched to ropey lengths, twirling about Feza's form, aiming to tie her up and prevent her from further growth. Yet as Celes looped around Feza's rapidly growing form, it seemed like a futile effort as Feza grew, looming hundreds of feet tall, far above the tree farm below.

When Feza's growth had ceased, she had taken on the form of a bright green Christmas tree! She rustled happily, pleased with herself. Celes, meanwhile, was taken for several loops, her purple form wrapped around Feza's branches. She looked like a decorative garland wrapped so elegantly around Feza.

"Eh... wha...?" Celes found it difficult to get her bearings, her body twisted and looping around the Feza tree over and over. "Are we a Christmas tree...?"

Feza rustled happily. Celes let out a beleaguered sigh; it was always something else with these slimes.

Meanwhile, at ground level, the other slime sisters had popped on over to check out the commotion, all arriving in their own wintry getups that Celes had made specially for them. Astra, Marin, and Surai too gawked at the wild display that Feza and Celes had combined to make.

"Hah... and here Celes was telling us not to start a commotion." Surai tsked, shaking her head.

I'm rather warming up to these human holidays, though. Astra reflected, cupping a paper cup to their chest. Or maybe it's the hot cocoa...

"CHRISTMAS! CHRISTMAS!!" Marin exclaimed excitedly, using a parrot on her shoulder as a mouthpiece. She practically exploded into a deluge of birds, squirrels, and other woodland creatures, all made of bright blue slime. They fluttered and scurried over to the tree, causing Feza to shake excitedly. It seemed that she was a little ticklish.

Surai smirked, passing off a candy cane to Astra. "Well, if we're doing this, I'm making sure I'm at the tippy top!~" Surai hurried forward, her arms lashing forward to ropey lengths as she effortless climbed up Feza's branches (and eliciting grunts of surprise from the Celes garland in the process), climbing to the green, slimy peak. Surai beammed smugly as she settled down at the top; she clasped her hands together as if in prayer, two angel wings of pink slime folding out from her back, as she assumed the pose of an angel.

Astra's eyes narrowed. She hobbled over to the base of a tree, and morphed into the shape of a present. A small label along the side read, DO NOT OPEN 'TIL XMAS!!

This suits me... Astra monologued internally, before settling in. In a matter of moments, all the slime sisters had joined in, forming parts of a decorated Christmas tree... one that raised far, far into the sky!

"I-I hope a plane doesn't fly into us..." Celes chuckled anxiously. It was nice to do some bonding with the slime sisters, but they could be so... eccentric.

Feza didn't have much of an expression at the moment, but she positively vibrated with excitement. It was a nice feeling, that she'd become the best, biggest, and most well-decorated Christmas tree in the land!
