New Build is Out!
Finally! Preview build 0.05 of Pod's New Program is ready to go.
There's actually quite a surprise in this build and it's part of what took so long to get it out. OK, perhaps I could have skipped it this time around just to meet the deadline, but I figured a few extra days would be worth the wait. What the heck am I talking about?
You probably already knew that there was going to be some simple dialogue overlaid onto some illustrations in between the "action" scenes, but instead of them being static drawings I was able to code in a visual novel style portrait system! I scripted it from scratch so it's pretty simple (and needs a little polish), but should do nicely to give the intro and other scenes just a little more life. It will also serve as a nice base to build from for future projects.... :)
In building out this new feature, I also added in some of the actual dialogue and created some new art assets to go with it. (9S is just a sketch for now, in the end he'll be just as sharp as the rest.)
One known issue: the game over scene isn't dynamic yet, meaning the "Retry" button will only bring you back to the first hacking level instead of whichever one you died on. This will be fixed in the near future!
