Q&A: January 2024

Hello again, dear readers! Time to ANSWER some QUESTIONS.

Our beloved Eddie is currently out on holiday! They deserve it (for more than just the hard work they've put into our favorite comic), so wish them a merry time as they travel this month! 1) What are Sestro's special interests?

AUSTINADO: We know for a fact that Sestro is a builder, physically and mentally. Whenever he has the chance to get his mitts on some Legos, he dives right into and just starts crafting whatever his mind desires! He can also literally do this with Mind, as well. Totally not confusing, right? Outside of studying Repitonian history, alchemy and his work as the functional face of The Repiton Corporation, we know he likes to train with Turnin in his spare time and that he enjoys the ancient art of classpecting. In the 2021 AMA we see that he enjoys Bionicles, and through the background art of his block, we get inklings of the smaller niches he's into. Old toys and dreams of interstellar travel from his youth that he's kept around.

2) What are Clarud and the Holistic Blight's classpect if they have one?

AUSTINADO: As far as ancestral classes go, they share aspects with their descendants. But Clarud strikes me as a Prince and HB (not to be confused with Hustle Bones or any of his probable counterparts) as a Mage.

3) Does Hamifi have a kismesis or any other Quadrants filled besides for Sestro?

AUSTINADO: Not any that we're privvy to. Though she does seem to get steamed over Turnin in a very particular manner, doesn't she?

4) do you have any advice on writing edolon's dialogue?

AUSTINADO: I've got an entire essay about this subject that's about to be your best friend. [link to the edolon archetype document]

5) does talald by any chance have a wardrobe that is filled with the same jester outfit numerous times and numerous boppers?

AUSTINADO: We know for a fact that she has boppers of varying sizes that she uses for particular tasks! There's the BITTY BOPPER, which is the smallest and rarely seen, the LIL BOPPER, which knocks people out, and the BIG BOPPER we all know and love.

Also, I like to imagine that all Repitonian's have an insane amount of duplicate clothes. When there's a profile to be kept, you gotta have a distinct image!

6) in that one group picture of the main case when they were younger, what is dismas Doing there because he does not look interested

AUSTINADO: Murrit brought him along and told him to be a good sport.

7) Does Turnin have a strife specibus or are they more of a pacifist?

AUSTINADO: I want to save their specibus for a proper reveal, but if you look into the details of their clothing, it shouldn't be too hard to glean.

8) Ofc we know that turnin has heavy Soda influences, but are there any others?

AUSTINADO: There are a few other major influences Turnin had during concepting though! Their character was heavily inspired by the Youtuber legend known as the LA Beast, who is a well documented hardcore food/stunt challenge channel. And for their speech patterns, I looked no further than one Roxy Lalonde from that comic no one has ever heard of before or been licensed by. What was it called again? Dinosaur Comics? Who cares.

9) Was really curious about this as a long time fan, but do the main 12's ancestors have finalized classpects. I know the ones from the dead dancestor AU, but I wonder if they still hold up.

AUSTINADO: More or less! I think there are a few that are going to be forever soldified to the character, but there are also some ancestors that have been reworked since that AU- in story content and their personalities. So this might be a question better saved for later down the line once we've seen more of them in action.

10) I'm rly curious to know Edolon's general views on the Holistic Blight (including how he views his ancestor's relationship with Clarud Enthal)

AUSTINADO: More of a burden than an inspiration, surely. It's a little hard to be someone's modified genetic clone offspring and not have your father figure put you on a pedestal in comparison to his lost lover. 

This seems to be a running theme that happens with the Corporate higher ups, actually. Yeah, that's right Secily. I'm looking at you.

11) Where do Edolon and Seinru live? Like, do they have their own hive(s) or a room somewhere in the Harbinger HQ?

AUSTINADO: Edolon used to live in the Corporate tower like Sestro and Hamifi do currently. After running away, him and Seinru met and eventually crashed together in their hive through the forming of The Mora. After Weird Al came in with his lofty ambitions of world domination and forced positivity, they moved to the destroyed ruins of the Renaissance utopia and have stayed there together since.
