So I've been in a rut lately. It just seemed this last year I wasn't getting anywhere really. You've probably had moments like those, yeah?
Then I was contacted by this nice young woman who was interested in doing some shoots with me. I explained to her what I do, sent her some samples and she responded very enthusiastically. If you don't know, that's generally a good initial sign. But in and of itself it doesn't mean much.
I think most people who hire models to shoot with them can tell you of at least a few occasions where the models flake on them (flaking being when they just don't show up. No contact or anything). And I've had plenty flake on me over the years, so I'm very cautious not to get too excited, especially if it's someone who has never been tied up or done any modeling before.
But not only did Lilly show up, right away she was just lovely.
Spoiler warning; this was one of the most enjoyable shoots I've ever had. I'll save some of the specifics for later dates, but one thing I can tell you about for sure is the miracles that took place during this shoot.
First, just the fact that she was fantastic. As was expected, it took a bit for her to understand what this was all about - and I am not the best at explaining things - but once she did she really got in to it.
But then there where the bad things that could have been terrible but actually weren't that bad...
I run a two-camera setup, which means I'm often running around between them. And you see that hard floor in the pics? Well BOTH cameras ended up kissing the floor. Dropping cameras is kind of the most terrifying thing in the world. And it happened TWICE on this shoot. CRASH! Then later CRASH again!
And yet, the ONLY damage that was done was to a cheap connector screw, a plastic lens support clip, and a large battery. NOTHING else was damaged. Several thousand dollars worth of gear, and only about $25 worth of damage. That is insane.
So considering what a disaster this shoot could have been, I see it as a miracle that it ultimately went so well. And the best part: Lilly really enjoyed herself and said she would be happy to shoot more in the future. And yes, I WILL have her back so expect to see a lot more of her.
And maybe I will get through a shoot without breaking anything...
Oh yeah, Merry Christmas!
