[Weekly Update] September 2nd, 2019

In some why, I consider our episode on In the Mood for Love to be the end of a season. At least, that's how it felt. Don't worry, I'm not quitting just yet. New episode is already in the work.
ABOUT THE CHANNEL
- Last episode, while well received, didn't gain much traction. I think many of you have noticed that YouTube is once again experimenting with a new recommendation algorithm, with more emphasis put on news and such. Video essay and other educational channel took a nose dive for a week.
- Still, I'm proud of this episode. It's always a daunting task to talk about something you love with a passion. But I think the end result is pretty good. What do you think?
- Last episode is actually adapted from a film study essay I wrote in university. The production of this episode brings back both amazing and terrifying memories. I think I need something lighter, a change of mood.
- I'm currently working on a Bruce Lee retrospective episode, which will be a two-parter, discussing the impact of Bruce Lee on the Kung Fu film genre.
ABOUT LIFE
- Been under the weather for the past few days, morale is low, motivation is limited. I need so much sugar to brighten my mood, I ate a 15cm diameter cookie in one sitting... after dinner.
- I also been playing Astral Chain.
- For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a sci-fi writer. Exploring human nature via technology is something that fascinates me from a young age. Which is why games like Astral Chain and Deus Ex interests me, even if their story aren't always the best. It's enough for me to just stand in one of those cyber punk futuristic world in game and contemplate what kind of life people lives.
- Astral Chain is the sort of world I'd like to build, although not the type of story I'd write (a tad too Japanese for me).
- Oh the things I'd do to make a movie.
ABOUT PATREON
- So I decided to start posting smaller bite size updates as an experiment. I suspect some people would prefer me to keep that to a minimum, so I'll limit it to 1 or 2 per week at maximum.
- I'll be looking into creating a discord server. This is not top priority, however, and I'm a old man, so it may take some time before I sort this thing out.
- But once it's set up, we can have a place to hang out and chat while I work on new episodes. We can even watch movies together and chat.
That's all the update for now. Hopefully all these small plans will fall into place as time goes on. This channel and this page will keep improving. That's the promised I made, and I fully intent to keep it.
Well, thank y'all for another great week of this channel. It's going to be our one year anniversary soon. What should I do?
