Hope you all enjoy the last episode on Parasite. Evidently people really like to talk about this film, as discussions of it continues in the comment sections and in discord.
ABOUT THE CHANNEL
- It has been a while since I do these types of aesthetic analysis. It brings me back to the days of film school. I was afraid it maybe too dry and technical, but it seems like a lot of people like it.
- It seems that, thanks to this episode, the channel's subscriber growth is boosted back to three digit. The view count, however, didn't shot up accordingly. I honestly have no idea what is going on in YouTube nowadays. I heard they are banning google accounts.
- I already have an Idea for the next three episodes, and scripting will start tomorrow.
- As for January, I may take the month off for a short break and/or a vacation. I'll see if I can backlog some episodes for the month. But If I can't do it, I'll pause Patreon for a month. You know the drill.
ABOUT MEDIA
- Still haven't have time to watch Terminator: Dark Fate. Judging by the lack of hypes and discussions online, I'm guessing it's not very good, but also not bad enough?
- What I did watch was Jack Reacher. A sort of low budget Jason Bourne thriller movie, directed by the same dude who helmed the last two mission impossible film. And it really reminds me on how to make good action scenes.
- Jack Reacher is by no mean an action film. The film spends majorities of its time on detective works. It's more of a film noir than anything. But for entertainment purposes, it does includes some actions scenes and a big action climax.
- And while I was watching, I can't wait for the action to be over so I can get back to the plot.
- The actions are by no mean bad. But action for action sake is surprisingly boring. It makes me realize, even when watching an action scene, I'm either expecting the plot to be pushed further, or to understands the characters better.
- In Jack Reacher, however, the outcome of the action scenes are pretty clear the moment it starts. We all know Jack is going to come out on top. The alternative means the film can't progress, or that Jack dies. Suspense is low, plot is thin, action becomes predictable.
- Still, with the plot alone, it's a fairly enjoyable film.
ABOUT LIFE
- It's getting cold in Montreal, which means I'll be going out less. It's the perfect time to start other projects that I meant to work on for the past year. Still working on that dream of becoming a feature director.
- Speaking of which, I'm very very close to finishing one of my major project. Can't wait to share it with you all.
- This is where I spray paint my mouth silver and tell you all to "witness me".
So, that's my week. Outside of the usual sleep problem and cold Canadian winter, things are nice and schedules are back to normal.
I'll see you next episode.
