[Weekly Update] November 17th, 2019

The year is nearly over, I hope your New Year's resolution is successful. Mine wasn't, but it's very close. I also started working out and looking less like a frail nerd.
I guess that's a sign of mid life crisis, actually...
ABOUT THE CHANNEL
- Both the Parasite episode and the Eye episode started getting attentions, for some reason. I guess people like their horrors after Halloween?
- The video was shared a few times on Twitter, but the engagement is not nearly high enough to be the cause of the view boost. I guess YouTUbe just feels generous for some reason.
- This is especially surprising, consider neither films are really that mainstream. It's one of those episodes I expect to perform about as poorly as In the Mood for Love.
- In any case, the script for our next episode is nearly done. It'll be uploaded here tomorrow. It's an episode in which I shows some of my works, while sharing my experience with film school, and help you decide if you should attend one. A bit of a different video, just a buffer episode for a big project I'm doing next.
ABOUT MEDIA
- I've been doing a lot of research, quick viewings/playing on horror films and games, for a short horror script I'm developing.
- On the movie front, I saw a Colombian (?) film called The Hidden Face.
- My feeling for it is... none. It's a solid film, well worth a watch. I do recommend.
- Yet, it's one of those films that I walked away, feeling nothing. The film did try to make you question the horror of humanity and what not, usual thriller stuff. I can't describe why, however, the film just flows by and I was not particularly impressed nor moved.
- Somehow I feel like that's a way worse thing to do than making a bad movie.
- On the gaming front, I revisited the Fate Frame series for the millionth time. it's one of my go to inspirations for dark ritualistic horror. And the original trilogy is, in my opinion, the scariest of all horror games, for the story, the theme and the atmosphere.
- Fatal Frame 3 in particular is my favourite. There's this very Asian depiction of depression in the entire game, where all characters hide their emotions from each other, pretending to be strong and stoic.
- And when character breaks down and weep, it is especially powerful.
ABOUT LIFE
- Been feeling blues lately, having problem motivating myself. That's why I haven't visited Discord lately. I'm sure things will past.
So, that's the update. But, let's keep talking in the comments. What's your personal favourite horror film/game? Do you have a plan for winter? What project do you want to finish by new year?
