Looks like we are getting a lot of new comers this week. You support is much appreciated! I hope you can find all the bonus content satisfactory. Speaking of which, I'm about to prepare for this month's bonus video. I'm thinking of talking about Nick Cage in Color Out of Space.
ABOUT THE CHANNEL
- As the channel grows, I find myself gravitate towards topics that are way too big for my own good. Despite splitting the Kung Fu Heroine series into two parts, the second part currently is still 17 minutes long.
- In any case, the script is almost done. I'll be uploaded tomorrow for preview.
- Some channel downscaling may apply in the near future to keep the upload schedule more consistent. Episodes will go back to smaller and more concise topics, and the length will hopefully set back to 10 minutes per video. For now, sorry about some delay, should that becomes necessary.
- Also, I'm thinking of doing a April Fool's video this year. Any ideas?
ABOUT MEDIA
- Many of us are in self-isolation right now, and seems like everyone is into plague movies, for ironic enjoyments.
- If you want an underrated film to watch, I suggests 2009 post-apocalyptic plague film, Carriers, featuring Christ Pine.
- It's a film about a group of travellers leaving city, heading to their beach house, in hope of spending the rest of their lives there, as the world ends.
- It's a movie that, with time, gotten better in my opinion. Many small elements were considered tired cliches and tropes, and it feels like a zombie movie without the zombies.
- However, with what we are currently experiencing, these cliches hit harder than they ever were.
- In one scene, An Asian man was chased and killed by a group of people. Later, you see the corpse of said Asian man being hung on a radio tower. On his body is a sign that says "Chinks Brought It"
- It's a disturbing image that had stuck with me ever since the movie first came out, and it has since gotten more powerful, for obvious reasons.
- And much like in the film, I saw it being posted on 4chan, where people interprets this murder as just. It's like watching a group of nazis cheers, when the black guy is killed by Edward Norton's character. They simply don't see the disturbing message behind, but interprets it as glory.
- The more you think about this film, the more it sticks with you. It may not be the most intense or enjoyable film to watch. But let it brew for a bit. I think you'll like it.
ABOUT LIFE
- So, I can't go out. Part of me is scared, not of the virus but of people. But also, malls and shops all shutdown in Canada as of today, so there really is no point to go out anyway.
- It's honestly at moments like this that I'm afraid someone from 4chan would flood our channel and accuse me of spreading Chinese propaganda. We all know how crazy cancel culture can be.
- I'm sure I'm just preaching to the choir here, but please don't call Covid-19 the Chinese virus. That's like calling HIV the gay virus, because it disproportionally affects and came from the gay community.
Anyway, I hope you all doing well, stay safe. I'll try my best to upload the new episode on time this Thursday. See you then!
