Hope you all enjoy yesterday's special video. Making highly topical and political videos like that is scary. Outside of it naturally being controversial and invites hate, it also adds a layer of financial pressure to the channel, as the video is, by its nature, not advertiser friendly.
In fact, I believe non-ad-friendly videos are also not promoted by the YouTube algorithm, meaning the video will not be seen by a lot of people.
What it comes down to, is that the video is only made possible because of you. Your direct financial support is what keeps this channel going, and allow this channel to make videos free from the preference of YouTube.
Thank you.
ABOUT THE CHANNEL
- A couple of comments pointed out the use of footage from Floyd's and Garner's death is distasteful. At the time of editing, the use was intended as similar to news reporting. I minimized the used of the footage to just a few seconds, and only show the parts where the victims are still alive (same with Shaver's death).
- With hindsight, I should probably have express more out rage in regards to their death, rather than trying to remain composed, which comes off as cold and unfazed. As result, the use of these footage may appear distasteful, if not disrespectful. I apologize for causing such discomfort. I screwed up.
- Anyway, I have videos planned that are martial arts oriented. The scripts are already partially planned. One of them was in the work before the protests started. If all goes well, the next episode will come out Thursday next week, and we'll be back to our bi-weekly schedule.
ABOUT MEDIA
- What's your most anticipated movie of 2020 that are actually coming out in 2020?
- Mine is Bill and Ted 3, no joke.
- I love the Bill and Ted films, especially the original. It is absolutely a film that everyone should watch, especially in today's distressing climate.
- Anyway, I'll explain why I love Bill and Ted in the bonus videos this month. For now, let's go through all the upcoming films, and I'll share my predictions for them.
- TENET: It's gonna be good, but its popularity will fade rather quickly. I have doubt it'll reach the meme level that is Inception. By now, I think many are no longer fascinated by the Nolan style of plot and writing. The cold and mechanical structure of these clockwork films are not what people needed any more.
- MULAN: It's gonna suck, in both the Disney remake way and the Chinese movie way. It'll feel neither Chinese nor Disney. It'll have no identity of its own. It'll fade the same way The Great Wall did. And it'll be a box office smash in China.
- NO TIME TO DIE: I have a faint hope that this will be as good as Skyfall. I like the retro aesthetic. I hope they fully embarrass that in the film and do some Connery or even Moore era shenanigans. But judging by its limited promotional materials and the uninspired posters, I doubt the film will be good.
- WONDER WOMAN 1984: I liked the first one up until the third act. I still believe the film would've been much better if Ares is not real, and humanity are simply naturally prone to war. Anyway, With the director returning, there's a good chance this will be just as decent. The trailer certainly isn't half bad. That's a pretty good sign.
- THE KING'S MAN: Director Matthew Vaughn returns, but writer Jane Goldman is no longer involved as far as I know. That's a good sign to me. I was never a big fan of Jane Goldman's writing outside of Star Dust. Most of her films have a terrible latter half, including Kick-ass and the original Kingsman. The King's Man looks to be a fresh take and a new direction for the series. I think it'll be decent.
- BLACK WIDOW: I'm saying it, oh yes I am. It's going to be as boring as Captain Marvel, but with less drama surrounding it. Its trailer is messy and unimpressive. The tone and style is muddy and non-distinct. The only thing that really sticks to your mind is the music. But that's usually the least reliable predictor to a film's quality. Just look at Rise of Skywalker.
- TOP GUN MAVERICK: It's Mission Impossible with fight jets. It's gonna be good and entertaining. Too bad it likely won't have the gay overtone of the original. That was the best part.
I think that's all the high profile release this year? Half of them might not even come out this year any more. What a strange time we live in. Anyway, what do you think about these films? Do you have a film you are excited about and want to know my thought about it? Comment below!
