Sorry there's no video this week. What originally planned this week as a simple episode is now snowballing into the biggest project in this channel's history.
So yeah, please give me a few days. You'll see the final result and go like "Oh, so that took the time".
ABOUT THE CHANNEL
- In you haven't saw our community post on the channel, our next episode is about movie posters. As one would expect, a video showing a static image is very boring to watch, so I had to do some basic pan and scan, as well as some motions graphics.
- They are all very basic stuff, but still takes much longer than the streamlined process I had for regular Accented Cinema videos. Over two days, I only managed to finished 4 minutes of editing. While the editing is speeding up, since the most difficult part is kinda over (hopefully), it'll probably take a few more days.
- I also went out of my way to re-record my narration, since my first attempt was done when I was extremely tired, and I sounded like I was bored out of my mind. Luckily the second attempt was better, but it did took another half a day.
- So, thank you for sticking with me and being so patient.
- On an unrelated note, I'm thinking of hosting live streams, in which we can chat about random non-film related topics. It'd be one more thing for patrons to enjoy. The logistic has yet to be figured out, so any suggestions are welcome.
ABOUT MEDIA
- Did you see my twitter? It's okay if you haven't, I know Twitter is not for everyone.
- But I did recently posted one funny thing. The latest episode of Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf (喜羊羊与灰太狼) just did a full segment where it parodied Dragon Ball Z.
- And it's freaking amazing.
- For those of you who don't know, Pleasant Goat is a long running animated slapstick comedy TV series made in Adobe Flash. You heard that right, FLASH! And it was one of the main examples I used to in our Chinese Animation video to show that the industry is catering mostly towards toddlers.
- But I guess those toddlers grew up and are teenagers now, and Pleasant Goat also became a self-aware, forth wall breaking action series.
- How self aware? At one point, Big Wolf insert a chip into his armor and changed form. His opponent then makes the remark: "What's the point of changing color?" Somewhere, Super Saiyan Blue is feeling the burn.
- Like it or not, and believe me, I did not, this series was one of the first modern Chinese animation to become successful. With an extremely limited budget and technology, they succeed through, admittedly solid writing and decent character designs. Its characters are so well known, their names had since became part of the pop culture vernacular in China.
- Actually it became part of it at one point but now dropped off because we have bigger and better things, thank god.
- I wonder how I'll see this series in another 10 years, if it'll still be going. Maybe it'll get a gritty reboot, like Ninja Turtles. There's no doubt a lot of kids and teens do have fond memories of this series, which is great. Seeing them loving something that improves and grows with them, is definitely a good thing.
- If the world can eventually learn to love Guy Fieri, I can learn to love this.
Anyway, a bit of a short update because I still have to get back to my editing. On the bright side, my insomnia is finally sorted out! Anyway, I'll see you in a few days!
