It's 2022 - Where is your audience watching Animation?
Added 2022-01-12 13:13:27 +0000 UTCHello, marvelous Patreon!
After 4 weeks of being sick with an awful virus, I'm back on track, thanks God.
So there are a couple of things to be addressed officially now that we are on 2022:
1. Patreon's 1st goal has been reached!
Back in December I mentioned that once we pass the 1st goal with this channel, I will be including technical tips about how to produce your animation series (or short animation) for cinemas, yeah, just like the movies do when they premiere. -But everyone is locked at home because of the virus, Mr. Schiller... who will go to the movies?
I'm glad you ask! Because you still have STREAMING options like Netflix. As a matter of fact, the link posted here will allow you to scope what technical requirements are (i.e. naming and uploading to their platform). All I'm saying is that you have resources to produce animation professionally in different streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Of course, there are a lot of requirements to even register as an official partner/distributor, but that's something you can prepare in advance after you complete your animated series using agents (Netflix) or uploading your movie (Amazon Prime).
2. Section 5 for WingFox for the Stylized Anime Shaders in Blender
Just this morning I wrote the reply email to WingFox's site for my participation with them in 2022. This of course, is great news to advance to section 5 for the stylized Anime shaders in Blender. I can't share too much at the moment, but by popular request, I'll be including how to build the ILM map from scratch using Suzzane and Fixy (version 2).
For Patreons, we will do THE SAME EXERCISES except we will use GHOST (male) and VIPER STING (Female) free models that I'll be developing following the Arc System Works techniques. So you will not miss anything in case you can't access the WingFox platform. All of these models will be the rewards in the following months.
3. Shaders and Pose libraries in Blender 3.1
Now that Blender 3 solid release is out in the public, we can finally enjoy an enormous advantage to setup our scenes with drag and drop shaders! That means that every shader that I've created can be available through the Asset Library. I will be doing a video about this and also how you can use the pose library with the new Fixy, Ghost and Viper Sting models.
4. Grease Pencil Anime - Are we ready?
Back in Blender 2.79 when I started posting videos like this, I foresaw the future of Blender to create Anime production, but the tools were not there completely. Now in Blender 3.1 we have a great set of tools and refinement options/modifiers/and (let's not forget) ASSETS from the Asset Library. I've been in contact with one of the Grease Pencil developers to give him feedback about the asset model linking for grease pencil objects, which means I will be posting about the advantages of "hot linking" your grease pencil animations when you're working in a collaborative environment
5. NFTs and Metaverse
It seems everyone's attention these days are set on how Blender can create NFT and Metaverse content. I've been researching how the market is moving regarding Blender, Web 3 and the Metaverse. Since creating animation is a rather lengthy process, I've been seeing new artists switch to selling NFTs using Blender, but just like in every other process, creating a successful collection requires more than 1 artist and time. So, are you going to create your own animation or NFT collections?
Let me know your thoughts about these points and let's start an awesome 2022!
-Pierre.
