Back in the early days of this channel, I made a two parter series about the brief history of J-horror films. In them, I avoided talking about Noroi, because I thought it differed greatly from the core J-horror formula.
Also I did not own a copy of Noroi.
Fast forward to today, Noroi came to Shudder, and I finally have a good motivation to cover one of my favourite J-horror film ever. Calling this film realistic is absolutely bonkers, but it really does feel that way. The film has this persistent atmosphere, crafted by its presentation. It is a film well worth anyone's time.
