Added 2021-09-15 18:01:34 +0000 UTCWell, this is one hard video to make, partly because of it being an unpopular opinion, but also because it's just difficult having to dig into news about hate crimes, and having to edit them down so YouTube doesn't get angry.
In any case, I hope this video adequately explains my thought on the state of Asian Americans in North America. But this is just my opinion, so, let's talk more about it!

I've also lived in America as an other (with my background changing depending on who I was talking to and if I agreed with them), so the perpetual foreigner concept really resonated with me. I even returned to my home country for work and the first question any interviewer asked me was if I was there legally. But, that's besides the point, I think you've really touched on an aspect of this film's potential and how it would have resonated with a fairly diverse mix of people. A missed opportunity.

I lived in Kentucky for 4 years and people there very flippantly called me the n word or refered to black people as the n word in front of me. People would scream it at me from their cars. I tried to act like it didn't effect me but in reality I became really bitter because of that experience.
